Neurodiversity vs Special Ed?

In terms of the services offered by a neurodiversity program as opposed to a special ed program,John Elder Robison says there’s not much difference.

People on the spectrum “are part of a variant of humanity that has been with us forever… if you see it that way, rather than seeing a kid or young person or even an adult that you’re trying to help as a broken person that needs repair, you see them as complete correct humans… what changes in neurodiversity is that you’re recognizing that they are more than just broken kids that need special ed help and that is a really really big deal. It’s a big thing to us.”
