Working with Anger

Blog

While preparing to meet with Elder Little Brown Bear, an email popped up from NPR titled “How Inuit Parents Teach Kids To Control Their Anger” about the use of calming strategies and storytelling from childhood leading to less angry adults. While Elder Little Brown Bear is from a different region, we had to ask him about this and how he works with adults who have NOT been skillfully trained to regulate their own anger. His answer is quite wonderful and can be used to support angry adults in many different settings. Note: Elder Little Brown Bear takes exception to the notion that people “control” anger:

Elder Litle Brown Bear runs the Aboriginal Healing Program at Michael Garron Hospital – Toronto East Health Network.
