Over the last two decades, psychology research has shown that positivity has a significant role to play in our well-being.  Find out what the research is saying: learn how positive experiences can provide relief and hope in the worst moments; the importance of building meaning over time; and the increase of capacity, engagement, esteem, and optimism when leveraging a growth mindset and character strengths

This dynamic session will use discussion, introspection, and practical tools to examine how positive psychology-based principles and practices can help decrease suffering and catalyze resilience.  We’ll discuss the emerging model of post-traumatic growth and delve into the paradoxes of resilience. How can you coach your clients to hold both the difficult and positive, the draining and life-giving, the frightening and hopeful, in order to build resilience? This webinar will show you how, by demonstrating how to use character strengths to build stable internal resources, discussing tools that enhance optimism such as gratitude, and showing how to build cognitive flexibility and emotional agility at the same time.  Foundational to resilience is a growth mindset, so we’ll look at how Carol Dweck’s teachings can work alongside building enduring resources through focusing on positivity.  Attendees will be encouraged to discuss how a positive psychology-based approach can enhance their existing models of practice.

By the end of this training, attendees will be better able to—

  • Define Resilience from a positive-psychology perspective.
  • Describe Post-Traumatic Growth.
  • Explain the Growth Mindset.
  • Apply Optimism as an intervention for chronic anxiety, depression, pain and sadness.
