Clients with social anxiety often suffer in silence—masking their distress behind avoidance, perfectionism, or withdrawal. This essential training helps therapists move beyond surface symptoms to create lasting, meaningful change using real-life, practical CBT strategies.
Social anxiety affects many people—and often shows up in therapy disguised as something else. Even if it’s not the stated reason for seeking help, you will encounter clients struggling with social anxiety throughout your career. It may underlie issues like depression, panic attacks, or substance misuse. And while these secondary symptoms may improve through treatment, the social anxiety often lingers—unless it’s addressed directly.
In this two-part training, Dr. Deborah Dobson offers a practical, evidence-based roadmap to help your clients begin living well with social anxiety. Using a CBT framework, this webinar guides clinicians through targeted assessment, step-by-step treatment, and strategies for long-term support.
Social anxiety isn’t just about discomfort in social situations. It can lead to persistent avoidance, self-criticism, and missed opportunities. While individual and group CBT approaches are effective, many clients continue to struggle during times of transition or change.
Living well with social anxiety requires clients to have more than symptom relief—they need to learn how to live well with social anxiety. This involves self-awareness, consistent support, skill development, and persistence.
Helping clients develop confidence in their ability to manage daily challenges is a key therapeutic goal. This course emphasizes how to apply CBT in concrete, personalized ways—moving from insight to meaningful action.
Clients often expect quick change from short-term therapy, yet long-standing patterns—especially avoidant ones—require time and practice to shift. As therapists, we must help reframe that expectation while offering practical tools for growth.
Dr. Deborah Dobson is a leader in CBT education and practice. She has developed national training programs, co-authored Evidence-Based Practice of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and received the Canadian Psychological Association’s Award for Distinguished Contributions to Education and Training in Psychology. Her teaching blends depth, practicality, and empathy—making complex clinical work accessible and actionable.
If you work with clients who struggle to connect, speak up, or pursue meaningful goals, this course will equip you with a practical framework to support long-term change. Join us and learn how to help clients begin living well with social anxiety—not just treating symptoms, but supporting real, lasting change.
