We are wired for connection. Our nervous systems are social structures that find balance and stability in relationships with others. Our biology shapes the way we navigate living, loving, and working.
Polyvagal Theory offers a way to use this understanding in service of individuals, families, communities, and global well-being. It explains the science of connection and offers a map of the nervous system to guide our exploration.
The ability to navigate the challenges of everyday life is a marker of well-being and is dependent on the autonomic nervous system. What begins with our biology becomes the story that shapes our days.
Polyvagal Theory gives us a map of the ways our bodies respond to both the ordinary and extraordinary challenges of life. When we are anchored in the safety of a regulated nervous system, pathways of connection come alive. Then we can travel those pathways in service of healing.
In this presentation, Deb will look through the lens of the nervous system to explore ways to listen with curiosity and compassion to emerging autonomic states. Our goal is to answer the essential question, “What does the nervous system need in this moment to find safety in connection?”
- Develop an understanding of how the autonomic nervous system shapes behaviors and beliefs
- Utilize practices to engage the regulating pathways of the autonomic nervous system
