Sexual Betrayals: Integrating Insights and Interventions from Sex Therapy into Clinical Practice

This On Demand Webinar is 3 hours.
Access information, resources and CEU information will be sent to you shortly after registration and registrants will be given unlimited access to the recording for a full year.

Sexual betrayals, both past and present wreak havoc on intimate relationships. A history of childhood sexual abuse can negatively impact the ability to anticipate, enjoy, and function sexually.  Therapists must now have the skills and confidence to address sexual issues in the course of ongoing therapy with trauma survivors and their partners. Infidelity is also experienced as a betrayal and an attachment injury. It also has ramifications for couples who want to rebuild their relationships following an affair. In this webinar, participants will learn the basic concepts and skills involved in the assessment and treatment of adult sexuality disrupted by the trauma of childhood abuse and/or by the injury caused by an affair. We will be examining the experience and treatment of sexual difficulties across a broad range of couples from diverse backgrounds, orientations, and stages of life*.

Kathryn Hall is also presenting Discordant Sexual Desires: Integrating Insights and Interventions from Sex Therapy into Clinical Practice with Couples. For more information about this full 3-hour webinar click here: Discordant Sexual Desires

*This webinar will focus on cisgender men and women in dyadic relationships. The omission of other gender identities and relationship constellations is not intended to be a negation of their experience, but a reflection of the reality of the limits of my practice and experience. There are others who can better speak to the experience of sexuality in the transgender person and to people in consensually non-monogamous relationships and I cede to them and their expertise.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be better able to —

  • Describe the pathways by which childhood sexual abuse disrupts adult sexuality
  • Identify attachment injuries that result from infidelity and assess their impact on a couple’s sexual relationship
  • Ask key questions to assess sexual interests and dissatisfaction in couples affected by trauma
  • Implement core interventions for sexual issues related to a history of childhood sexual abuse.
  • Implement core interventions for sexual issues related to infidelity
