Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a unique, goal-directed intervention in which the focus is placed firmly on the client’s desired outcomes instead of their problems (even when the presenting problem is serious). At its core, it focuses on developing conversations that involve detailed descriptions of the client’s hopes for future outcomes. While this is a simple focus, it is not necessarily easy. The many powerful questioning techniques central to SFBT are as much an art as they are a science and as with any craft, they require ongoing practice and reflection to continue developing competency.
In this solution-focused brief therapy webinar through the use of practical exercises, video examples, and live demonstrations, Elliott will review the core components of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and offer new insights into the effective use of a number of the core techniques that are central to the approach. A specific focus will be placed on working with both individuals and families.
By the end of this training, attendees will be better able to —
- Utilize the key tenets and ideas that guide professionals using the Solution-Focused approach
- Demonstrate 3 strategies to help clients focus on solutions
- Apply the art and science of questions that get results
- Identify 3 significant differences between solution-focused vs. problem-focused approaches
- Lead conversations that improve outcomes
