Led by Arielle Schwartz, PhD
This is a 2 hour On Demand Webinar. Access information, resources and CEU information will be available shortly after registration and registrants will be given unlimited access to the recording for a full year.
This webinar was broadcasted live on October 21, 2022 as part of the Collective Trauma Conference
Through psychotherapy, we see somatic experience providing feedback not only about the self, but also about other people and our environment.
Embodiment is an ever-changing, dynamic relationship between the individual, their circumstances, their relationships, and the world at large. This perspective allows us to attend not just to our personal wounds, but to the impact of collective trauma in our clients lives as well.
Collective trauma refers to the impact of traumatic events on groups of people, communities, and society as a whole. And when the wounds of one generation remain unresolved, they can be passed on as a legacy to future generations.
This engaging and experiential presentation introduces an integrative, mind-body approach to working with collective and generational wounds drawn from EMDR Therapy and Somatic Psychology. Inspired by her work on post-traumatic growth, Dr. Schwartz will highlight the resilience of the human spirit, even in the face of adversity.
At the conclusion of this workshop, attendees will be better able to:
- Describe Collective Trauma and how this can be carried across generations
- Discuss the neurophysiology of stress and trauma
- Identify and practice at least three interventions for working with somatic symptoms in trauma treatment
- Design an integrative model for trauma reprocessing based upon the science of neuroplasticity
- Define Resilience and identify Key Practice to support Post Traumatic Growth

Prof. Dr. Tania Singer is a social neuroscientist and psychologist and world expert on empathy and compassion. She has a passion for creating bridges between fields that typically never interact such as linking neuroscience with economics, science with arts or science with spirituality.
Learning from contemplative traditions from the East, she has initiated and headed one of the largest meditation-based secular mental training studies on compassion, the ReSource project. Linking such findings to the field of economics, she developed a “caring economics” approach, developing new models of economy based on care and social cohesion.
Throughout her life she has explored how inner change can bring about societal change putting science in the service of societal transformation.
