Working with LGBTQIA+ clients* requires therapists to focus compassionately on our clients’ internal worlds as well as our own. IFS offers a deep, transformational healing to clients AND it facilitates the ability of clinicians to connect with ANY client in spite of differences and biases due to of personal gender, sexual orientations and perceptions.

Join Frank Anderson for this engaging workshop as he explores working with LGBTQIA+ clients through the lens of IFS. Topics to be explored include:

How IFS helps therapists engage in parts that carry biases and how IFS can help therapists stay open to each client’s unique experience

How IFC can Support the healing agent of self-energy to promote healing and positive clinical outcomes.

Differentiate the clinical needs and challenges facing LGBTQIA+ populations and subgroups, including youth coming out in today’s culture

By the end of this training, attendees will be better able to—

  • Assess and discuss the importance of welcoming a person’s full humanity in treating clients in the LGBTQIA+ population.
  • Implement at least 2 ways to support the healing agent of self-energy to promote healing and positive clinical outcomes
  • Assess, identify and explain the differences in clinical needs and challenges facing different LGBTQIA+ populations and implement approaches that reflect the needs of individual clients
  • Explain at least 3 challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ subgroups  including LGBT youth, lesbians and trans individuals.
