Kathryn Hall PhD

Kathryn S.K. Hall, PhD, is a licensed psychologist with over four decades of experience in sex therapy and research. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Since that time, she has become a leading voice in the field of sex therapy.

Dr. Hall has lectured and written extensively on topics related to sexual health, psychotherapy, and the cultural influences on sexual well-being. Her latest book, Talking About Sex in Psychotherapy, was published by the American Psychological Association Press in December 2025. She has also co-edited three influential books: co-edited two editions of Principles and Practice of Sex Therapy and The Cultural Context of Sexual Pleasure and Problems: Psychotherapy with Diverse Clients. In 2004, she wrote an award-winning book for the general public: Reclaiming Your Sexual Self: How to Bring Desire Back into Your Life.

In addition to maintaining an active private practice specializing in the treatment of sexual concerns, Dr. Kathryn Hall sits on the Special Classification Review Board, a panel of experts appointed by the Governor of New Jersey responsible for overseeing treatment progress and determining parole readiness for incarcerated sex offenders. Passionate about mentorship, she provides sex therapy training for both emerging and experienced clinicians.

Kathryn Hall also serves as the Book Review Editor for the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy and is a Past President of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research.
