Description
This webinar will provide practical, step-by-step, cognitive and behavioural approaches for understanding and treating depression and anxiety-related conditions. These conditions include anxiety disorders (e.g., panic disorder, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias), obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and illness anxiety.
Both disorder-specific and transdiagnostic approaches will be covered in this webinar. Strategies to be discussed include cognitive strategies (e.g., Socratic questioning, behavioural experiments, imagery-based approaches), behavioural strategies (e.g., exposure therapy, behavioural activation, problem solving, relaxation training, social skills training), acceptance-based behavioural treatment (e.g., mindfulness), strategies for resolving ambivalence (e.g., motivational interviewing), and case formulation.
Attendees will learn about both well-established strategies and emerging treatments as well as approaches for adapting treatments across cultures, across the lifespan, and for virtual delivery. Attendees will also receive a detailed handout and comprehensive list of recommended readings.
