ODW 2023 Developing Your Personalized Approach to Clinical Supervision with Jeff Chang

In the ever-evolving field of psychology, the significance of clinical supervision as a distinct professional competency has grown over the past two decades. Both the Canadian and American Psychological Associations now acknowledge the vital role of clinical supervision, making it a requirement in accredited programs. Additionally, internship sites are encouraged to offer predoctoral interns the opportunity to supervise psychology trainees at an earlier stage of development.

The Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) has further emphasized the importance of clinical supervision, transitioning it from an “emerging” area of competence to an “established” one. Recognizing its significance, the CCPA, the Ontario Association for Mental Health Professionals, and the BC Association for Clinical Counsellors have implemented supervisor credentialing schemes. Furthermore, various regulatory bodies, such as The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board, now require supervisors of candidates for registration to have undergone supervisory training.

In this 30-hour clinical supervision training, Dr. Chang will provide an in-depth exploration of the Contextual-Functional Meta-Framework (CFM) for clinical supervision.

The CFM is a versatile approach applicable to a wide array of professional activities, including therapy, assessment, and consultation. It transcends various behavioural health disciplines and theoretical orientations, making it a highly adaptable and universally relevant framework.
