Paul Wachtel, PhD
Paul L. Wachtel, PhD, is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology at City College and the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. He earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia and his PhD from Yale. As a faculty member of the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, Paul co-founded the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI) and served as its past president.
Dr. Paul Wachtel is an accomplished author, contributing to notable works such as “Psychoanalysis, Behavior Therapy, and the Relational World” and “Making Room for the Disavowed: Reclaiming the Self in Psychotherapy.” Recognized with prestigious awards including the Hans H. Strupp Award and the Sidney J. Blatt Award, he has lectured globally on psychotherapy, personality theory, and the intersection of psychological research with societal challenges.
