Sheri Van Dijk, MSW, is a seasoned Social Worker with over two decades of experience in the mental health field. She specializes in working with clients facing severe mental health challenges, and her dedication extends to both private practice and a community hospital setting.

A trailblazer in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness, Sheri has been delivering DBT-informed therapy to individuals and groups since 2004. She is a prolific author, contributing to the field with impactful books such as “Calming the Emotional Storm,” “The DBT Skills Workbook for Teen Self-Harm,” and the best-selling “Don’t Let Your Emotions Run Your Life for Teens.” In 2013, she demystified DBT with “DBT Made Simple,” making this therapy accessible to clients and clinicians, showcasing its versatility in effectively treating various emotional problems. Sheri’s latest release in 2022, “The DBT Workbook for Emotional Relief,” further solidifies her expertise.

Sheri’s influence extends beyond the written word. She has been a prominent figure in the mental health community, presenting extensively on DBT and leading workshops for professionals both in Canada and internationally. Recognized for her significant contributions, she received the R.O. Jones award in 2010 for her research on utilizing DBT with bipolar disorder, presented at the Canadian Psychiatric Association Conference.

Sheri Van Dijk operates from a trauma-informed perspective and has diversified her skill set with certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), ongoing training in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), and certification as a Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider. Committed to continual growth, she is currently working toward becoming an EMDR Consultant, showcasing her dedication to advancing therapeutic modalities.
